Ramsdens Jewellery

Are you about to pop the question? Ramsdens Jewellery share their top tips!

Ramsdens Jewellery

If you’re considering popping the question, you will want to ensure everything is perfect.  Now that we are at the turn of Spring, with longer, brighter, and warmer days, there are plenty of ways to ensure it’s a special moment to remember.  Here, Jack Jahan from Ramsdens Jewellery will be sharing his top five tips for planning an idyllic springtime proposal.

With the UK currently ready to follow a roadmap to easing lockdown, there are great ways you can mark this momentous occasion and plan the perfect time on how you will pop the question. Here are my top tips for making your proposal a moment to remember this Spring.

Choose the perfect ring
Before you start planning on that special location when you’ll get down on one knee, you’ll want to think about choosing the perfect ring first. This can, of course, take some time to find a special one to suit your partner and to find out their correct ring size!

While engagement rings are typically based around gorgeous clear diamonds, you might want to choose something more personal to your partner. For example, choosing a gemstone that is associated with their birth month or the month in which you met can add an extra romantic touch. You could even select a gemstone that represents the springtime months, like aquamarine, emerald and pearl.

All gemstones have a meaning behind them, so you could look at selecting one that will resonate with your partner. For example, garnet is associated with passion, health, love, and other strong emotions, whilst amethyst symbolises security, spirituality, and true happiness.

Once you have decided on the perfect gemstone colour, you’ll want to consider band colour and style. Yellow gold is known for its luxurious appearance and has always been treasured for its natural radiance and beauty, while white gold is more modern and still very elegant. If your partner has a lot of silver jewellery, you might want to pick a silver band for the engagement ring to match.

Design a romantic setting
With restrictions still in place, travelling to your dream proposal destination is likely to be off the cards for a little while longer, and you may be struggling to think of places with a romantic backdrop closer to home.  However, with the weather improving now that we are into the Spring season you might like to plan a beautiful setting in your own garden.

If the garden is going to be your special place, raking away any dead leaves and cutting back over any hanging bushes and hedges will be a great starting point. Once you’ve got your garden all tidied up, you can then think about whether you’ll pop the question over a romantic al fresco dinner, or create a romantic walkway that leads right outside where you’ll be waiting.  Whichever option you choose, you will want to make sure you plan a beautiful theme.  You may like to hang banners and balloons in their favourite colour, or even make your own bunting from polaroid images of you together clipped onto some string.  The choice is yours to make it as personal and individual as you would like.

If you’re planning to celebrate with some a delicious meal, consider ordering in your partner’s favourite restaurant dishes, or recreating them at home — your partner will be sure to appreciate all of the effort you have gone to!  Don’t forget to make your table setting special with photos, candles, special flowers, and your very best cutlery and crockery.

Add ambient lighting
While the days are staying lighter for much longer it will still add a special touch to add some ambient lighting — particularly if you plan to create this magic moment under the stars at night.  Candles are always a nice touch, and you can even make your backdrop more extravagant with beautiful lanterns to cradle the light.  Similarly, you might want to put up some beautiful fairy lights over the tree branches to set the mood.

If you plan to sit outside for dinner, think about having a floral centrepiece with fairy lights weaved through it, or make use of your best candelabra. The more light there is, the more that the beautiful ring will just sparkle!

Ramsdens Jewellery

Dress to impress
Your proposal is bound to be one of the most memorable and special moments of your life, and your fiancés, too!  While we haven’t had much need to wear anything too fancy for the past year, now is the perfect time to make the most of this occasion. Whether this means dusting off your favourite suit, or going smart casual, looking your best will help you to feel your best – something that will help towards those nerves kicking in too!

Get your friends and family (virtually) involved
Although this may be the most private moment in your life, you might consider setting up your laptop or your phone on a stand with a good view of where you’ll both be standing when you get down on one knee.  You can then either begin recording just before your fiancé-to-be comes to join you unsuspectingly, or you can use a video service like Zoom or FaceTime to allow your family to virtually be there when the moment happens.  Whether it’s a moment between you or a moment with all your family friends joining you on this special day, taking those special images would be something to keep forever.

So get ahead with the planning for your springtime proposal with these top tips. From choosing a ring that will wow your partner, to planning the setting and getting your nearest and dearest involved, you are sure to create an engagement to remember!

Bridal Skincare: The Pre-wedding Prep Your Skin Needs

Bridal Skincare

You have been waiting for your big day for as far as you can remember, and every woman’s dream is to look her very best with her skin reflecting the inner glow she is feeling. However, the biggest fear would be waking up a few days before with signs of a pimple or blotchy skin – but now these things can be prevented if you know how!

Skin specialist and product developer at Colorescience, Patricia Boland, has revealed the only pre-wedding prep your skin needs. She explains here on Bride Icon, when you should begin the prep and what you need to achieve that effortless glow that will look picture perfect.

When should I begin the prep?

A lot of brides want their skin to be luminous and have a natural but dewy complexion which allows them to wear less makeup on the day. In order to achieve that smooth surface you need to invest into a better skincare regime which preps the skin. The later you leave the prep, the more stressed you will become as you will have less time to react to any skin issues on top of the many other responsibilities you hold. Please don’t try anything brand new and drastic before the wedding day as you may get red and flaky skin, stick to what you know suits your skin best.

Start your prep 8 weeks before your big day, most of the work is simple can be done by yourself at home so you don’t to worry about spending a large budget on expensive treatments and products. By maintaining this 5-step process for 8 weeks you will see a big improvement in your skin health.”

Bridal Skincare

So, the 5-step process:

1. Weekly intense hydration mask

Your skin needs to look and feel revitalised as opposed to dehydrated. This is not be confused with dry skin, which is down to a lack of oil, dehydrated skin is caused by a lack of water in the skin. Low levels of moisture can give you a dull complexion, increase fine line and wrinkles and even cause sensitivity and irritation. This affects every type, even oily skin – this step ensures your t-zone is oil free and ready to be a clean base for your makeup. A weekly intense hydration mask will help to reduce fine lines and wrinkles that are exacerbated by dehydration and leave you with plump, youthful and healthy skin.

Bridal Skincare

2.  Salt scrubs

Brides tend to forget about their arms, legs and chest during their bridal skin prep. All eyes are on you during your big day, so you need to reduce any existing or potential dry patches. Add a bath to your weekly routine and throw in bath salts with sodium bicarbonate, this will break down the dry patches and make your skin supple and a sponge for moisture.

3. SPF always

Sun damage will undo all your hard work and you can be affected more easily than you think. Dull, lackluster skin and dark spots can all be a result of UV rays. Either apply sunscreen at the end of your skincare routine in the morning or incorporate makeup with a high SPF to protect your skin. If you are wishing for a slightly sun kissed and bronzed look for your big day then gradually build in a bronzed moisturiser about 3 days before your wedding. This will give time for your colour to adapt into a beautiful and natural subtle tan.

4. Exfoliate and moisturise your body

Use an exfoliation product, whether in a wash or lotion that has AHA or beta hydroxy acid (BHA) to break down dead cells on the top layer of the skin, doing this daily allows further penetration of the moisturiser you apply. Do not exfoliate with physical scrubs or loofahs as these often remove living cells as well which cause damage to the skin.

5. Achieving the dewy look

Use a natural face oil and work firmly in small circles upwards and outwards over your face. By using the knuckles of your index and middle fingers, work along the jawline and use the heels of your hands to press and hold under the cheekbones. Do this daily before you go to sleep to allow the ingredients to settle into your skin, this will give the skin an incredible quality and glow whilst defining the face contours.

Zuhair Murad

Zuhair Murad Launches Fall 2018 @ The Wedding Club, London

Zuhair Murad’s passion and skills for turning a bride into an icon is unprecedented in the world of couture and bridal fashion.  The creative journey for this reputable designer began in Beirut, Lebanon, where he is renowned for creating a catalogue of ready-to-wear couture and bridal gowns, dressing the royals and celebrities across the globe.

Zuhair MuradBridal couture has particularly been a fond pursuit for Zuhair, combining meticulous attention to detail, sensual silhouettes against the femininity of the female form and the pure accuracy to ensure all the strategic elements of glamour and sensuality are endorsed to create the fairytale dream wedding dress.

Zuhair MuradZuhair MuradThis week, Bride Icon attended the launch of Zuhair Murad’s Fall 2018 collection named a Midwinter’s Night Dream at The Wedding Club in Knighstbridge, London.  Of course, as you can see from the stunning images – yet again, Zuhair Murad has broken another revolutionary record in show stopping bridal gowns.

Zuhair MuradZuhair MuradTaking an ode to the shades of blushing pink and powdery palettes, the gowns are influenced by embellishing silk chiffon, tulle, floral themes, Mikado and lace reminiscing some of his previous inspirations.  The detachable over-skirts and the distinctive long capes define this opulent collection giving the bride the option and flexibility to switch looks during her very special day.  Beads, intricate hand embroidery and 3-D petals were the highlights of each of the fairytale dresses, however, the statement accessories such as the ruffled tulle stoles around the shoulder and the beaded and floor length capes added a touch of magic and Hollywood glamour for every beautiful bride to be!

A midwinter’s night dream enlightened….

Zuhair MuradZuhair MuradAn aurorae borealis, a quartz crystal or blushing cheeks: pink, the eternal symbol of femininity is celebrated throughout Zuhair Murad’s Bridal Collection 2018. The shade is used in a limited palette, ranging from tender ivory to powdered and muted tones, giving centre stage to the house’s savoir-faire and the body it will envelop. The collection celebrates a tradition both ancient and modernized, and more importantly, the woman is it designed for, equally in love and of her time. Flowers appear in all shapes and sizes throughout the pieces, expressing the same philosophy – worn as a crown, natural and untamed, seemingly out of a Romantic-era engraving, embroided in 3D, or delicate on sheer chiffon like a tattoo on nude skin.

Zuhair Murad

Zuhair Murad

Channelling the timeless elegance of Grace Kelly, the short and bouffant cut Audrey Hepburn in Funny Face or Mia Farrow’s pared down chic in their respective off and on-screen weddings, each design radically rethinks classical codes.  Silk chiffon, tears of ruffles and airy lace create a tension between what is made visible and invisible: boleros, capes and veils drape themselves over a bustier, an off-the-shoulder cut, a high slit…this equilibrium reflects a harmony between worlds, cultures and generations.

Trends For An Autumn Wedding By Veritas

With Autumn well and truly here, it’s time to get to grips with this season’s bridal fashion and top jewellery trends. Our friends at Veritas Gift have been keeping a close eye on the recent bridal catwalks and have given their top trends that will be making waves this Autumn here on Bride Icon:

Forehead BandsBeginning with forehead bands, which were seen on every bridal catwalk at the bridal fashion shows – it seems they are here to stay!  An alternative to the veil – this season it’s all about adding an elegant and 20’s inspired twist with an embellished, lace headpiece. With so many different styles to try, it can enhance the vintage chic glamour look or perhaps go a little more subtle with a plain lace band.

Adding a hint of chic to the wedding outfit, it seems a choker style necklace is going to be a strong contender within bridal fashion this Autumn. Coming in many different shapes and styles, you can definitely find one to suit your taste, perhaps go a little more elegant with a silver band choker.

veritasStill a firm favorite on catwalks, delicate necklaces seem to always add some sophistication to a bridal outfit, bringing a certain elegance to the décolletage area. However, you may want to opt for perhaps a more luxurious diamond encrusted necklace which you can treasure for years to come.

VeritasPendants are always popular with brides, purely because they are a piece that can be kept and cherished.  Many pendants open up allowing to keep a photo inside, which of course, adds a very personal touch. Veritas gifts offer an array of beautifully crafted pendants in many different styles and colours- their acorn pendant is particularly a strong favorite with their clients.

Enamel jewellery has long been a favourite for many women who want to show off their individual style.  The enamel range of jewellery seems to be making its way slowly into bridal fashion.  There are many different designs and colors to choose from, with some popular options being enamel cuffs that add a touch of drama to a bridal look!  For more tips and jewellery designs see  www.veritasgifts.co.ukVeritas

Design in Scent

Design In Scent’s Frosted Veil eau de parfum, is the perfect choice for a Princess, inspired by tradition and regality with a Heart of Myrtle which holds a special place in Royal wedding history….

For over 170 years every British Royal Bride has carried a sprig of Myrtle in her bouquet to bring good luck in love and marriage. The tradition began when Queen Victoria and Prince Albert were married. The year before, Victoria was gifted a Myrtle plant from Prince Albert’s grandmother after which she planted at her home, Osborne House on the Isle of Wight. Today this Myrtle plant still flourishes and provides the Myrtle for each Royal bouquet. Even the Duchess of Cambridge carried two sprigs hidden within her wedding bouquet. Myrtle is beautifully fragrant, crisp, cool, and camphoraceous. Its uplifting scent evokes feelings of tradition, holiness and the sacred.
