Equally significant throughout the design process, is the experience of each individual bride. Each style has been designed with the utmost comfort and flexibility in mind and only adds to the effortless style and romance of this collection.

Sarah says, ‘I believe every woman has her own style and it is essential that they can choose the right silhouette to flatter them.  As with all my collections, styles and shapes are easily interchangeable and can build a more bespoke gown for each individual bride, creating something unique and showcasing their own style and personality.  This year, I wanted to design a collection that not only incorporated the beauty of the natural world but also a collection that evolves with today’s bride. This collection is simple yet intricate and is a fresh approach to elegant, timeless styles that last forever.  ’We hope you fall in love with our collection as much as we have.”

Celebrity Hairstyles and Wedding Hairstyle Trends

Wedding, Girl, Marriage, Bride, Dress, White, Woman

Every year, celebrities set the trends of fashions and hairstyles. Everywhere you looked, you could see celebrities with many different and fashionable hairstyles from short and sweet to long and elegant, from curly or wavy to up-styles. No matter what the style these celebrities were wearing, they made a fashion statement that everyone else followed after. If a next-door girl won’t wear celebrity hairstyle to work or to school, the weddings is a perfect time for her to try celebrity hairstyles, and feel like a true celebrity.

Jennifer Aniston and Jennifer Lopez were two of the most popular celebrities that people were talking about when it comes to hair styles. Each of these celebrities had a hairstyle that no one else could touch and until recently, many of us only dreamed we could have a Jennifer Aniston Sedu hairstyle or a Jennifer Lopez Sedu hairstyle.

Hair, Hairdresser, Maintenance, Spray, Bridal

Creating beautiful wedding hairstyles is easy after browsing through the numerous bridal printed magazines or available on the Internet. Searching “hairstyles 2006” in popular search engines, you’ll have a plenty of ideas.

Long hairstyles are still the favorites of most brides, because they add sophistication and elegance to a wedding ceremony and reception accordingly. Go for casual, romantic long hairstyles or practical, modern short styles if you feel that any of them match your own style. If you are wearing short hair but you want a fashionable long hairstyle or up-do, you can let you hair grow in plenty of time or opt using hair extensions.

Bride, Marry, Wedding, Red Hair, Red Roses

If you decide to wear a Jennifer Aniston sedu hairstyle or a Jennifer Lopez sedu hairstyle for your wedding or your friends’ wedding, I‘ll reveal the secrets here. The secret behind their gorgeous hairstyle is of course partly due to the sedu flat iron, not to mention what they do prior to using this wonderful sedu flat iron. They both must use a conditioning shampoo and then dry well and again add more conditioning to assist in straightening their hair and making it very soft and flexible. The next step in the Jennifer Aniston sedu hairstyle is to add equal parts of shaping gel and calming serum massaged into the hair. Using a big round hairbrush and your blow dryer, you will be simulating how Jennifer Lopez sedu hairstyle is created. The next thing these two Celebrities have done is the flattening with the sedu flat iron.

Bride, Face, Wedding, Woman, Female, Girl, Dress, White.

Will the 2020 hairstyles give us the same great looks with celebrity hairstyles or is there a change a coming? The new in fashion for celebrity hairstyles, or what designers are saying, is that short hair is coming back in style. The bob is one of the hairstyles that is making its way to the big screen and all around Hollywood. This celebrity hairstyle is easy to manage, looks great, and may become the top 2006 hairstyle. We will have to wait and see if the Jennifer Aniston sedu hairstyle or the Jennifer Lopez sedu hairstyle will be one of the prominent celebrity hairstyles in 2006 or if someone else with a bob style or a curly style makes the headlines. Whatever wedding hairstyles you choose, they shouldn’t lose your personal identity.

How to Find the Best Wedding Jewelry

Wedding, Bride, Jewelry, Wedding Dress, Wedding Day

When it comes time to get married, you have a lot of things on your mind. In addition to all of the planning that goes into a wedding, you have big decisions to make on wedding jewelry. The engagement ring, for instance, is the first thing you have to think about. Saving for that purchase is a big deal, so you want to make sure you pick out the right one. You’ll also have to think about a wedding band, but that’s secondary to the engagement ring.

Bride, Couple, Groom, Hands, Holding Hands, Love, Man

Finding the perfect diamond ring is all about the perfect fit. That’s not meant in a literal sense, but more in how the item fits your needs. Diamond rings are expensive, but they can vary in price depending upon size, cut, clarity, and a host of different factors. Before you can pick out your engagement ring, you have to know what your budget is. Diamond rings can run, typically, anywhere from £5,000 to £30,000. You can buy a bigger, more expensive ring, but that’s only for the high rollers. A good rule of thumb is to save three whole months’ worth of pay. Depending upon your salary, this could work.

Rings, Wedding, Dress, Wedding Rings, Married, Love

When you figure out how much you’re willing to spend, you need to think about the kind of cut your future bride wants. You can usually find this out without giving away the fact that you’re going to propose. In passing, find out if she wants a princess cut, an emerald cut, or maybe just a round cut. The options are almost endless, so you need to really understand what she’s looking for. Diamond rings might carry a big price tag, but they aren’t all created equally. Some looks are more suitable for different women, depending upon their taste.

Ring, Jewellery, Jewel, Jewelry, Woman, Hand, Jewelery

Another important “C” word is clarity. Many people like to judge diamond rings based upon their size or their price, but clarity is much more important in the grand scheme of things. A good engagement ring will really shine when the light hits it. Sometimes, people settle for cloudier rings that are less expensive. This might be good for your budget, but it won’t give you a great looking engagement ring. Make sure that you ask and find out the grade of the diamond clarity. Jewelers are required to give out this information, so make sure you take advantage of it.

Wedding, Wedding Rings, Oath, Young Couple

Shopping for engagement rings is fun, so you need to approach it that way. You shouldn’t have to worry about things while you are doing it. You should figure out how much you are willing to spend, and don’t stress if it’s not a whole lot. You can find some great diamond rings for less than you would think. It’s important that you do all of the research and above all else, make the ring fit your future bride. She will love it pretty much not matter what you happen to spend on it, but you’d rather have a great ring than an average looking one.

How To Create Your Own Personalized Wedding Vows

brides and groom looking each other
Your wedding is your own. And in today’s society, people have been constantly scouring every book for any way to make their wedding as personal and as unique as possible. One way to do this is to whip up your own wedding vows.

Traditionally, couples to be wed do not have much of a say in what goes into many of the words spoken during the wedding ceremony. Today, it is increasingly getting easier to personalize and influence what is said during the ceremony – within reasonable bounds, though.

If you desire to make your wedding vows unique and personal, you are not alone. Many other couples incorporate feelings, and intimate messages into their wedding vows. It has an added effect of making your wedding more touching, dramatic, and memorable.

Talk with the Officiant Ahead of Time

If you would like to personalize your wedding vows, first notify your Officiant to find out the legalities, guidelines and rules in drafting your own wedding vows.

groom and bride standing on narrow pathway

He or she will typically give pointers and examples to help you draw up your own vows. Furthermore, the Officiant will inform you of the parts of the vow that are expected to be said.

The Topic
It may include promises, such as “I will swear upon my life to do …” or it may be heartfelt messages for each other, or even hopes for each other plans for the future and such.

bride and groom near green field

You may also opt to create a mixture of each to spice up your wedding vows. Although norms vary from culture to culture, as a general rule, the wedding vow should not take too long to recite. Keep it concise yet meaningful. Remember, you will have to recite this, and long recitations tend to make the memory suffer.

Make it Official
After creating a draft of the vows you wish to exchange, it would do well to meet up with the Officiant again and show him a draft of your vows.

photo of a man and woman newly wedding holding a balloons

Although in the end, it is ultimately your decision that is followed, do take heed of the Officiant’s advice, as it is usually sound and has been honed by experience.

It is a good idea to practice your vows before the wedding. Although there is no rule against reading vows, a thoroughly practiced, heartfelt rendition of the vow will definitely make a lasting impact on your partner and the people witnessing the ceremony.

groom and bride holding hands

As mentioned earlier, avoid overly long vows as they tend to be less remembered and are harder to memorize, not to mention quite inconvenient to others. You may do so, however, if you feel the need is justified.

The Performance
When reciting your vows during the wedding, always keep calm. People who are tense tend to speak to fast, and since the wedding vow is a very important part of the wedding, you will want to take your time in the spotlight. Loosen up, so that in case you forget a line or two during the exchange of vows, you will at least be able to bounce back with something from your heart. If you desire so, you may also keep a written version of you vows with you. You might want to read it surreptitiously though.

Good luck from all of us here at Bride Icon on your wedding, and may the sweet words you utter during the exchange of vows never lose their meaning for rest of your days!

Indigo Rocks

An Exclusive Interview With Indigo Rocks

Indigo Rocks

Bride Icon first met Indigo Rocks at the Pridelux Atelier held at The Shard in London and we were so awe-inspired by some of the bespoke and beautiful table creations that were showcased.  Indigo Rocks creates stunning bespoke table decorations for weddings and events – all hand-made wedding favour boxes, gift boxes, Christmas and wedding crackers and beautiful place cards.  The creations are designed using the finest paper and acrylics, elegant ribbons and charming embellishments – giving every table that extra sparkle and glamour.  Bride Icon spoke to the Creative Director Jo Rymill to tell us more about Indigo Rocks.

Hello Jo, thank you for speaking to Bride Icon.  Firstly, tell us a bit about yourself and how the story began for Indigo Rocks.

Hello…. I’m Jo, the Creative Director of Indigo Rocks.   I have always made all the table decorations for my family for all of our (very numerous!) parties and gatherings. Over the years, family friends had asked me to make the table decorations for their weddings and Christmas parties, and I suddenly realised how much I enjoyed doing it – from here the idea of Indigo Rocks was born.

With a background in interior design and a career as a creative director for interior design companies around the world, I have a love for pulling together a look across all the table decorations so that’s why I’ve built the ranges so it’s possible to coordinate our products on the table.

Indigo Rocks

What does Indigo Rocks specialise in?

We specialise in wedding favour and gift boxes, Christmas and wedding crackers, napkin rings and place cards/escort cards. I’m also starting to work with accessories such as guest books and albums. I’m always open to suggestions if anyone would like anything in particular made though!

How would you define the perfect table setting, what should it look and feel like, and is there a favourite of yours?

For a wedding,  the perfect table setting is one where you can see the personality of the couple who are getting married. This is what makes a table unique, memorable and fun.

My favourite table settings are when the wedding theme has been taken through all the details, from the linens and tableware to the flowers to our decorative products. Table design is a lot like interior design; when a home is beautifully designed you feel warm and comfortable, the details are all taken care of. It’s the same with the perfect table.  Everything is where you need it to be to allow your guests to enjoy themselves – there’s really no point if there’s so many flowers on the table that no one can see one another!

Indigo Rocks

There is so much diversity in weddings now, how do you come up with a customised design to suit each wedding?

We always start with an in-depth conversation with the couple. We take into account the colours they’ve chosen in general for the wedding party, including clothes and flowers, and we look at any themes that they’ve already thought about for the wedding and we work with those.

We find that what we do is very different to anything else that’s on the market so it’s a really enjoyable process to create something unique for each wedding.  If a client were to come to us with a blank canvas, that’s just as much fun, and we would work together to create something beautiful for them.  We have a gallery of products on our website to get the creative juices flowing to start with.

We also work very much with personalisation so each of the favour boxes is engraved with messages to the guests, giving them something really nice to take home as a keepsake which is a lovely gesture.

Indigo Rocks

Jo where do you find your inspiration from when creating a bespoke luxury design?

I am inspired by so many things.  I have a strong passion for pattern and design, having spent years collecting beautiful fabrics and I’m a magpie when it comes to anything sparkly!  I’ve travelled and lived all over the world and am massively inspired by other cultures.  I bring all of this to my work.  I love it when a client comes to us with thoughts about a theme for their wedding that allows me to research and come up with some really different ideas for them.

With so many intricate details in weddings now, how does Indigo Rocks cater to couples wanting something unique and different?

We find every couple that comes to us is unique, so it’s really exciting to find different materials and designs that will reflect their personalities and help us make their table decorations as unique as them.

I do love it when a couple are looking for something different to all the other weddings they’ve been to.  As all our products are designed to be completely bespoke it means we don’t have to make all the products look exactly the same, we can mix and match.  For instance; we had a wedding where the theme was multi coloured butterflies – we made the favour boxes in a series of different colours and added hand cut and coloured butterflies so each one was different to the next, this design, added to the personal messages inside, made for a very unique box that the guests could keep as a memento.

With no minimum or maximum order quantity it also means you could do something special just for the top table or the bridesmaids, while keeping the rest of the guests a little lower key if you’d like to.

Indigo Rocks

Indigo Rocks

How lovely Jo.  So which has been the most unusual design you have created and what was the theme?

The most unusual one was a couple who were obsessed with Lego.  They had met at a Lego convention and the theme for their wedding was all centred around Lego – they had spent the 18 months leading up to their wedding building their table centres from Lego. They wanted to give their guests wedding favours that they could keep and treasure.  We came up with the idea of favour boxes that were made out of acrylic and each one was engraved with a personalised message and decorated with a small Lego figure made to look like each guest.  We also made place cards to match the boxes. The journey with this couple was such fun and their wedding was so personal and unique – the guests totally loved it!

That definitely sounds like the most unique design…!  Finally, what is coming up for Indigo Rocks Jo, and where can our brides come and see you?

Indigo Rocks plans to keep developing its product ranges while having as much fun as possible with our lovely couples!   You can see our work on the website , on and on Facebook

Bride Icon would like to say a very special thank you to Jo, the Creative Director for Indigo Rocks for taking the time to talk with us and our brides.  It certainly has been a real insight into the world of luxury and bespoke table decorations.  Do send a message at if you’d like a chat to Jo about your wedding or event.

All brides have their own tastes and preferences on their wedding night. One of the most popular requests is a sexy bridal lingerie costume, which includes a teddiette, veil, gloves and bouquet. mother and daughter walking down the stairs

Once you have gotten a basic idea of what the couple is imagining, you can begin to figure out how much the couple’s dream wedding will cost, and how much money the bride and groom (or their families) are planning to spend.

Obviously, not every couple has unlimited funds to plan their nuptials. A good wedding planner will be able to take the couple’s picture perfect wedding and scale it down to size as necessary to fit their budget. However, the budget will definitely influence many of the couple’s decisions about the wedding. There are two ways to determine the cost of the wedding. The couple’s first option is to set the budget and plan the wedding accordingly. The second option is to plan the couple’s dream wedding and figure out how to fund the affair later.

man and woman dancing inside the room

Factors that will affect the cost of the wedding:

  1. – Date and Time
  2. – Formality
  3. – Number of Guests
  4. – Food
  5. – Flowers, Music, and Photography
  6. – Ceremony and Reception Venues
  7. – Location

You will quickly learn ways to manipulate these factors to cut costs as necessary. The bride and groom must be able to prioritise their wish list. If the couple’s dream wedding is a black-tie affair in June with a catered, sit-down meal for 500 people in an expensive hotel ballroom, the couple better have a lot of cash or be ready to make some compromises. A good budget will take into account every aspect of the wedding. Your role is to help the bride and groom find ways to choose the most important elements and downscale in 30 other ways as necessary.

three white taper candles

The black-tie affair in the fancy hotel ballroom could cost significantly less if the couple chooses to have the wedding during an off-season month or day (think a Friday night in April or November) or has a late-evening reception with drinks and dessert. An open bar, designer gown, live music, or elaborate floral arrangements are all expensive options that can be scaled back to cut costs — unless the couple is set on that specific detail. Odds are the bride and groom are not the only ones with big ideas for their big day. Parents and families on both sides will likely have their own idea of what the wedding should entail. If the couple’s parents are footing a large portion of the bill, remind the bride and groom that their parent’s opinions should be taken into consideration.

Wedding Favors For Winter Weddings

Couples who are planning a wedding in the wintertime may wish to incorporate the idea of winter into the overall theme of the wedding. They may also wish to give their guests wedding favors which are related to the winter season. These wedding favors can be items related to winter or the holiday season depending on the preferences of the couple. This article will provide a few ideas for wedding favors which would be appropriate for winter weddings.

Couples who are getting married around Christmastime may be planning to incorporate Christmas into the theme of the wedding. If this is the case they will have a great deal of options available to them in terms of wedding favors. One very popular idea is to give each guest an ornament with the names of the bride and the groom and the wedding date. This is an excellent idea for the wedding favor because it is not only something the guests can use but it is also a personalized wedding favor which will help to ensure the favor will be associated with the wedding and will help the guests to remember the wedding fondly.

red and white rose bouquet

Tiny, artificial Christmas trees are another great idea for a festive wedding favor idea. These tiny trees can be adorned with wedding bell ornaments or kept plain to allow the guests to decide how to display the favor themselves. Alternatively the couple may wish to give each of the guests a few packets of seeds for Christmas trees. This will allow each of the guests to plan their own trees if they desire to do so.

Snow globes are another example of a favor which would be very appropriate for a winter wedding. The snow globes can feature a bride and a groom amidst the snow or can simply be a winter scene which the couple finds appealing such as ice skaters or a mountain scene. This type of wedding favor is likely to be appreciated by your guests because it is not a very common wedding favor so most of your guests will not likely already have a large collection of similar items.

Another idea for a wedding favor for a wedding during the winter season is a miniature sled with the name of the bride and the groom and the date of the wedding painted on the sled. This is a rather cute decoration which can be displayed as a knick knack or used as an ornament on a Christmas tree.

Even items such as coasters can be used as wedding favors for a winter wedding. Coasters come in a wide variety of sizes, shapes and designs. You can find coasters shaped like snowflakes or featuring winter scenes. By selecting these winter themed design a very practical wedding favor instantly becomes one which is also very appropriate for the theme or the season of the wedding.

Hot chocolate, coffees and teas are also great wedding favor ideas for winter weddings. These edible favor ideas are great for the winter season because they are all warm drinks. You can even find wedding favor distributors who will personalize the packaging of these favors for you so that you can make these wedding favors even more festive and appropriate for distribution as a wedding favor.

How To Banish Stress And Anxiety On Your Wedding Day

Weddings. We’ve all seen them. Some of us have been to one or two of them. A few probably have participated in one. However, none of us can really know what it feels like to get married until the moment arrives when one sits at the altar, with half your instincts telling you to run to the nearest exit and not look back. One can’t imagine or understand what it really means to seal the deal, strap on the old ball and chain, and say goodbye to all the subtle pleasures and little freedoms that being single affords a person, not to mention the relative financial security.

The fact is, weddings cause brides and grooms insane amounts of stress and anxiety. From the moment the guy decides to propose, there’s an undue amount of pressure that has to be dealt with. Selecting the perfect place, finding the right ring, and getting the mood for that particular event just right can wreak untold havoc on an otherwise normal and fully functioning mind. Of course, this is nothing compared to the stress and anxiety that comes with actually planning the wedding.

However, the fact is, the most amount of stress and anxiety tends to come at the day of the wedding itself. That’s when all the pressure comes down on you and you realize that, at the end of the ceremony, you’re going to be bound to one another for “all eternity.” For some, the thought is a welcome one, but for most, there’s always going to be that element of uncertainty that causes stress and anxiety to take root once one partner gets to the altar. In some cases, it builds to the point that one half of the pair doesn’t want anything to do with the whole affair before the organ even starts playing.

For some, though, all that stress and anxiety pales in comparison to the worries that thinking about the future might bring. Both bride and groom are bound to consider some situations and possibilities of what might happen several decades from the wedding itself, with some of them being perfectly reasonable and others bordering on psychological horror. Is she just after the cash? Will he start looking at other women when she gets old? Will he want kids or not? Will the kids follow her religion or be atheists like him? All of these things tend to pile up and make the stress and anxiety of getting married double, or even triple in some drastic cases.

The fear doesn’t even really have to come from the future, as quite a bit of stress and anxiety can come from just the thought of living together. After all, you only really get to know one another when you’ve lived with each other for extended periods. For those who didn’t have a long engagement, this could easily come into play as both parties experience various uncertainties about whether this arrangement is the right move.

However, while all this stress and anxiety is definitely something to be considered, these things are not what one should dwell upon the day of one’s wedding. A wedding should be a happy occasion, and one that was prepared for several months ahead of time. Evaluate whether you’re just nervous or if you’re outright questioning the relationship itself. If you have stress and anxiety the day of the wedding because of the nature of the event, that’s fine. In all likelihood, that’s a perfectly natural reaction. However, if you’re starting to feel nervous because you’re not sure you’re taking the right step with the right person, then maybe you should have thought about that before proposing, don’t you think?

Wedding Ideas From A Gujarati Wedding?

Image result for Gujarati Wedding

The Gujarati weddings are full of splendor and fun. As most of the Gujarati population indulge in business rather than employment, they are financially well off and hence money is never a problem at such weddings. A function like a wedding also serves as a rapport development exercise between customers and vendors.

The following rituals are performed in a guajarati marriage. Let us first have look at the pre marriage rituals.

Image result for Gujarati Wedding

First among the pre marriage rituals is the Mandap Mahurat.

Here the families of both the bride and groom in their respective homes and the groom seek the blessings of the lord Ganesha. The house is full of relatives at such times and every one enjoys the wedding. Such a pooja is performed a few days before the actual marriage and is performed by a priest.

Graha shanti is performed by the all the relatives who have gathered in the house to attend the wedding. The priest decides an auspicious time for the pooja and the entire family performs this pooja at such times.

Jaan is an interesting ritual performed at the bride’s residence. The grooms, along with his family arrive at the bride’s residence and seek the blessing of the in laws.

Now its wedding time.

The bride and groom arrive at the wedding location in their own decorated vehicles. Both the bride and the groom change to the wedding attire and come on the common dais. Here the first function to be performed is the Kanya Daan. The bride’s father lays trust on the groom that his daughter will the well taken care of. As per the rituals, the brides are considered the Goddess Laxmi and groom is considered Lord Narayana. The father of the brides takes her hand and places it on the hand of the groom. All these are performed before the sacred fire.

Hasta Milap is a step further to Kanya Daan. The grooms scarf and the bride’s sari are tied in a knot which signifies their union before the entire guest, who are present on the occasion. This is done by the priest who performs a pooja along side the sacred fire.

Replace candies and chocolates with fresh fruits – One of the many weaknesses especially for brides is to crave for sweets, which can affect health and of course, beauty.  Thus, instead of sweets, and other food items that are filled with sugar, you should try to eat a lot of  fresh fruits.  Foods that have high sugar content can enlarge your pores, aside from the fact that it can make you gain weight.

Be conscious of your weight – One of the many biggest issues for brides is weight and it is a time when all brides are conscious of wanting to lose a few pounds to look their very best.  It’s important to note, whether you gain or lose weight you may have problems in properly fitting your clothes. Therefore, it is best to maintain your weight at an ideal level, so that you can feel healthy and you can fit perfectly in your dream dress.

Don’t visit the kitchen too often – If you want to prevent having bouts and bouts of acne infection, you should avoid going to the kitchen, especially when someone is cooking.  Its good to keep in mind that there is oil floating around your kitchen, when it is heated.  Therefore, if you visit the kitchen during times of cooking, then you would be accumulating oil on your skin, which is bad news.  Not exactly practical but something to keep in mind.

Minimize stressWhenever you are stressed out, it would actually show on your eyes, the expression of your face, as well as your skin. In fact, stress can also cause pimples. Therefore, you should minimise stress as much as possible – easier said than done given brides are renowned to be stressed – however take action by taking deep breaths whenever you encounter stressful situations.  Following other healthy practices in breathing and meditation can also help alleviate stress.

The key factor here is to be eating the good fats that help skin and not the bad ones.

Keep away from the sun –  Although we all love the sun, exposing yourself to the sun can irritate your skin, which can lead to having pimples. Aside from that, it can also cause dry skin. Therefore, it is best to stay in the shade in most parts of the day.  If you are out in the sun do make use of a quality sunscreen product.

Get help with severe acne – There are times when acne can attack without warning. If you do have severe acne, you should not hesitate in getting help for it.  Visit a dermatologist as soon as possible, so that you can finally put a stop to it, and live a life with healthy and acne free skin.

Try one product at a time – To cure acne or any other skin disorders, you may have a tendency to make use of different types of products all at once. Instead of doing that, you should try one product at a time, so as to give it a chance to work. Aside from that, it is best to focus on a reliable product, than applying different ones, since applying too many of them may irritate your skin even further.

Wear the right clothes – You have to keep in mind that the way you dress can have a huge impact on the way you feel.  Therefore, make sure that you wear clothes that makes you feel good whatever the occasion.  When it really doesn’t matter wear comfortable clothing, so that you would be able to move freely, and be yourself and we know exactly how that feels!

Be mindful of what you apply on your hair – When you apply certain products on your hair, such as gel, hairspray, or mousse, you should do it sparingly. This is because, using it excessively can irritate your scalp.  If you have long hair and it constantly rubs against your face, then it can also be the root cause for having acne infection.  Something to really consider.

This is our pick of the next big bridal trends for 2019 and beyond!

1. Something Blue

We’re all for wedding dresses with a little colour, and from sky to cornflower, the touches of blue on the bridal runways were like a breath of fresh air!

As seen at: Jenny Packham, Carolina Herrera, Leanne Marshall

2. 3D Florals

This trend has been around for a while, but this season, it’s easier to reel off the designers who didn’t have 3D florals in their collection, than the ones who did. Giving everything from a hint of texture to a statement feature, we love this one for its romance and playful possibilities!

As seen at: Temperley, Lela Rose, Tadashi Shoji, Viktor & Rolf, Galia Lahav, Phillipa Lepley, Bowden Dryden, Naeem Khan, Carolina Herrera, Francesca Miranda, Elie Saab, Lihi Hod

3. Big Ballgowns

Every season offers up a few big ballgowns, but this year they were back in the mainstream – the bigger the better. These Disney wedding-worthy gowns might seem a bit classic, but for 2019, they couldn’t be more in vogue. If you can walk through a standard doorway wearing your wedding dress, it isn’t big enough!

As seen at: Marchesa, Inbal Dror, Galia Lahav, Suzanne Neville, Amsale, Monique Lhuillier, Reem Acra, Elie Saab

4. Tiered Skirts

Looks like our very own Tatum’s mam was a trendsetter, because tiered skirts were everywhere this season. This typically Bo-Peep-style silhouette is getting a couture makeover with luxurious lace, bouncy tulle, and geometric crochet.

As seen at: Theia, Tadashi Shoji, Viktor & Rolf, Suzanne Neville, Monique Lhuillier, Carolina Herrera, Lela Rose, Sassi Holford, Katya Katya Shehurina

5. Statement Skirts

Pom poms, fanned fabric, splashes of colour and avant garde silhouettes – we saw lots of bold shapes, bright colours and more subtle statements on the runways this season, it’s been all about the bodice for a few years now, so it’s about time the skirt got to shine!

As seen at: David Fielden, Viktor & Rolf, Phillipa Lepley, Vera Wang

6. Foliage Appliqué

We’re used to seeing floral appliqué all over the runways, but as foliage becomes a lasting trend in wedding floristry, it seems it’s filtered through to the gowns as well.

As seen at: Reem Acra, BHLDN, Berta

7. Brides with Bows

We’re suckers for cute bows around here, so we were chuffed to see lots of them make cameos across the catwalks. Wedding dresses with bows ranged from the statement to the subtle, but one thing they all had in common, they’re impossibly chic!

As seen at: Viktor & Rolf, Reem Acra, Carolina Herrera, Zuhair Murad, Amasale, Alan Hannah

8. Full-Length Shimmer

Head to toe sequins, pearly beading, and iridescent fabrics, the Bridal Fashion Week runways were alight with shimmer, and we think this trend will resonate with winter brides in particular!

As seen at: Jenny Packham, Naeem Khan, Dany Mizrachi, Savin London, Justin Alexander, Lazaro, Berta, Mira Zwillinger

9. Metallics

Give us gold, silver, pewter and rose! We saw lots of metallic wedding dresses over the last few weeks, and while it was something of a mixed bag (1999 called, it wants its debs dress back!), there were some showstoppers. We see fair brides in particular, looking gorgeous in gold, while silver would be fab for a cool city wedding.

As seen at: Jenny Packham, Galia Lahav, Naeem Khan, Sabine Motesem, Ines Di Santo, Mira Zwillinger

10. Feathers

Feathers come and go at Bridal Fashion Week, but for Spring 2019, they feature heavily – if you follow us on Instagram Stories, you’ll know we fell hard for a particularly dramatic feather skirt by couture dressmaker, Phillipa Lepley – we’re swooning at the thought of it!

As seen at: Inbal Dror, Phillipa Lepley, Naeem Khan, Andreas Kronthaler for Vivienne Westwood, Zuhair Murad, Sassi Holford, Savin London, Ines Di Santo

11. Robe Dresses

While it might take a confident bride to pull this trend off, we think these luxurious robe-style wedding dresses are just divine. We can picture it now, a destination wedding somewhere glamorous, an effortless upstyle, some statement jewellery – how fabulous! A twist on this trend was a sheer trench we saw in a few collections – very cool for an alternative elopement.

As seen at: Jenny Packham, Savin London, Ines Di Santo, Dany Mizrachi, Justin Alexander, Gracy Accad

12. Dresses with High Neck

Now this is a trend we adore! High neck wedding dresses have been popping up for a few seasons, but they became an official trend for Spring 2019, with elegant lace, long sleeves, or pretty broderie Anglais. A beautiful trend for church weddings too!

As seen at: Reem Acra, Viktor & Rolf, Monique Lhuillier, Dany Mizrachi, Sareh Nouri

Natural Beauty Through Mineral Makeup

assorted-labeled cosmetics bottles near pink petaled flower

As we become more aware of our environment and more aware of the products that we are putting into and onto our bodies, natural and homeopathic products are taking the cosmetic industry by storm.

It’s likely you’ve noticed new skincare and cosmetic companies popping up with ‘all natural’ and ‘organic’ products. Of course, just because they say they are, does not necessarily make it true. That is where consumer education comes in, and why it is so important.

The title of this article is ‘Mineral Makeup’. After learning what mineral makeup is, what products go into it, and what its benefits are, you can decide if this is the right choice for you.

What Is Mineral Makeup?

Mineral makeup is designed from all naturally occurring products. It is often recommended by dermatologists to women with sensitive skin, rosacea, post operative, laser and other procedures because of its intrinsic skin soothing and anti-inflammatory properties. It is a powder makeup of finely milled minerals. It can provide very sheer or very opaque coverage, depending on the formulation and application. However, it still allows natural skin radiance to show through, so you don’t get the dreaded ‘mask’ look. It is typically free of fragrance and preservatives. Minerals cannot feed bacteria, so there is no danger of spoilage, thus it needs no preservatives. It does not go bad. It is very good for oily skin because it has several oil- absorbing components.

assorted-color soap packs

It is usually applied with a brush, and is typically shown to be ‘buffed’ into the skin. This technique forces the makeup into your pores, which is never a good thing. A technique that works with better quality mineral makeup (which we’ll discuss later) is to ‘dust” the makeup on, instead of ‘buffing’ it. If a brush irritates your skin, you can also use a non-latex or flocked sponge. Application can be done either wet or dry.

What Are The Ingredients?

This is the most important part. Learning what is in your makeup will give you the ability to choose what will meet your needs best. These are the ingredients you will most likely come across.

• Titanium Dioxide- A white natural sunscreen and anti-inflammatory agent. It is highly reflect, with only a diamond being higher, and thus minimizes fine lines and some skin discolorations.

• Zinc Oxide- A natural sunscreen providing broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection.

• Sericite- A colorless mica that can be used to cut the opacity of Titanium Dioxide and also works as an oil absorber.

• Cornstarch/ Rice Powder- Cosmetic grade- An oil humectant (draws oil out of the pores). Can make acne worse as it is a source of food for bacteria.

• Kaolin Clay- Natural oil-absorption.

• Mica- Natural ‘glitter’. Provides shimmer and sparkle.

• Iron Oxides- Natural pigment- very opaque. Used for tinting cosmetics.

Ingredients To Avoid

These ingredients are also common, but can cause problems so are best to avoid.

• Talc/ Various Powders- Common fillers- can cause respiratory problems.

• FD&C Dyes- Derived from coal tar.

• Bismuth Oxychloride- Known skin irritant- causes itching, rashes and breakouts. Especially prevalent when the wearer sweats.

• Ferric Ferrocyanide- Controversial because of its suspected toxicity.

• Carmine- Crushed beetles.

What Brand Should I Buy?

Well, if you’re familiar with mineral makeup, it’s likely you’ve seen the infomercials. After further research you’ll find these companies use controversial ingredients, and charge quite a bit for their products.

turmeric scrub jar and face wash pump bottle

There are several good mineral makeup companies out there that provide a much better product at a more affordable price, as well as a superior customer experience. They also offer samples, which the larger companies do not. You will get to try the makeup (unlike in the drugstore!) for a fraction of the cost before you buy it. They do not have expensive advertising and packaging to pay for, so the savings are often passed on to you.
