London-based fragrance designers, Design In Scent, have partnered exclusively with the UK’s premier wedding boutique, The Wedding Club. The full collection of Design In Scent wedding fragrances, ambience mists and candles will now be available for all to experience in the stunning setting of the Knightsbridge and South Kensington Wedding Club boutiques.  July 2017 marked the launch of Design In Scent’s inaugural wedding fragrance collection, the first and only dedicated wedding fragrance collection in the UK. These evocative scents have been captivating brides and grooms across the country as scenting your wedding becomes just as important as choosing the perfect gown.

Aroma has the power to move, inspire and elicit long forgotten memories and emotions. Selecting a signature fragrance to weave throughout one’s wedding adds an even deeper level of meaning and memory to the big day.

Design In Scent’s Frosted Veil eau de parfum, is the perfect choice for a Princess, inspired by tradition and regality with a Heart of Myrtle which holds a special place in Royal wedding history….

For over 170 years every British Royal Bride has carried a sprig of Myrtle in her bouquet to bring good luck in love and marriage. The tradition began when Queen Victoria and Prince Albert were married. The year before, Victoria was gifted a Myrtle plant from Prince Albert’s grandmother after which she planted at her home, Osborne House on the Isle of Wight. Today this Myrtle plant still flourishes and provides the Myrtle for each Royal bouquet. Even the Duchess of Cambridge carried two sprigs hidden within her wedding bouquet. Myrtle is beautifully fragrant, crisp, cool, and camphoraceous. Its uplifting scent evokes feelings of tradition, holiness and the sacred.

New Bridal Fragrance Collection: Design In Scent – Is Out Now!

In May 2014, scent designer, Gemma Hopkins, the Founder of Design In Scent, was the first to link the power of scent with the magic of weddings. It was in 2016 when she partnered with wedding planner Meghan Fay, MD of Design In Scent, that the UK’s first and only dedicated wedding fragrance collection was developed and the Design In Scent Wedding Fragrance Journey™ concept was born.

Scent, unlike any other sense has an uncanny ability to move, evoke and inspire us.  It can transport us to a past moment in our lives, another place on the globe or a hidden crevice in our heart. The ability to capture such a momentous occasion and the meaning behind is why wedding scent is becoming an increasingly important part of the wedding day.

Companies big and small are now following in Design In Scent’s footsteps and creating fragranced products for weddings. From Floris who have recently launched their “Together” Fragrance Customisation to Jo Malone’s Bridal Lace Bottle Collection.

The first time we smell a new scent, we subconsciously associate it with what we are experiencing at the time. This link is permanent, which is why even years later, smell can continue to evoke strong emotional responses. A bride who wears a new perfume during her engagement or a guest who smells a novel fragrance at a wedding will forever associate this scent with the celebration. Years later, a hint of the fragrance will elicit the feelings of love, joy and elation that the bride, groom and guests felt on the wedding day.

Up until this summer, Design In Scent worked only on a couture basis, designing bespoke wedding fragrances for private clients who wished to fully scent their weddings. While continuing with their bespoke work, on 3 July 2017, Design In Scent  opened their doors to the public for the first time with the launch of their inaugural fragrance collection for retail. Designed especially for weddings, the collection includes 8 eau de parfums and 4 ambience fragrances. The ambience fragrances will be available in candles, ambience mists and intelligent air diffusers for scenting large spaces. A range of miniature products that can be personalised will be available for guest favours. This range of fragrances and products will give couples the ability to weave scent throughout their engagement and wedding day in many unique and creative ways.

After debuting at the Richard Corrigan’s Wedding Show in London, Design in Scent are throwing open their previously bespoke-only doors, to make way for a revolutionary collection of fragrances, designed to connect with the meaning and joy of a wedding.

Launching on 3rd July 2017, the Design In Scent Wedding Collection consists of four exquisite Fragrance Journeys™.  Within each journey is a feminine eau de parfum, a masculine eau de parfum and a third Union fragrance.  The Union blends the most beautiful fragrance notes from the masculine and feminine scents to create a unique yet recognisable scent.  Bride Icon had the opportunity to try some of the combinations and we must say the scents were incredibly unique – but we loved the flowing of the fragrances into one great union!

The Fragrance Journeys™ have been designed to represent both the individualities of each partner as well as the magic that coming together as a couple sets in motion.

Who’s Up For A Gin & Tonic… Perfume!

Yes you heard it right!  Art de Parfum have launched a unique collection of fragrances with some exotic titles such as Sensual Oud, Excentrique Moi, Signature Wild, Sea Foam and, of course, Gin & Tonic Cologne.  Made in France the fragrances radiate French sophistication, but more significantly Art de Parfum places ethics at the heart of its operations.  All Art de Parfum fragrances are 100% cruelty-free, environmentally-friendly and free of materials that add to third world exploitation.

Gin & Tonic Cologne:  Art de ParfumGreen Citrus at £108.   Top Notes: juniper berry, grapefruit, lemon zest, cucumber peel.  Heart Notes: gin & tonic accord.  Basenotes: ambergris note, cedar wood, vetiver, white musk.  This fragrance is a time capsule of the classic English traditions. The opening is as refreshing as taking a long sip of that ice-cold G&T – teeming with peppery citrus and the gin-like juniper berry, it fairly explodes out of the bottle like a freshly opened bottle of Schweppes Indian Tonic.  The heart of Gin & Tonic Cologne shimmers with zesty, bitter aromatics like lemon and grapefruit peel and juniper berry, but there is also a cool, watery tone floating through the heart, adding a gentle freshness.  In the base, a stunning note of white ambergris weaves through a mélange of light cedar wood, vetiver, and incense, bringing with it a refined, mysterious marine woodiness, like ancient driftwood bleached white by decades of sun and sand.
Excentrique Moi: Art de ParfumWoody Floral 50ml at £108.  Top Notes: pepper, clove buds, red fruits. Heart Notes: guaiac wood, hibiscus, black tea.  Basenotes: patchouli oil, white musk, cedar. Excentrique Moi is a story of contrasts.  Its texture is rich in playoffs between sweet and bitter, herbal and earthy, dark and light. Plummy, wine-like dried fruits sweeten the tannic sharpness of black tea leaves, and the upturned-earth darkness of patchouli is illuminated by a shaft of sunshine from lemon.  There is a pleasant density to the opening, packed as it is with a host of dried fruit flavours and steamy, vaporous tea. Full of twists and turns, Excentrique Moi shifts restlessly from fruit to forest to smoke like storm clouds seen racing across the reflection in a glass of absinthe. Wearing it is like holding up a mirror to one’s own emotions and moods.

Sea Foam:  Art de ParfumCitrus Marine 50ml at £108.  Top Notes: bergamot, marine notes, laurel.  Heart Notes: guaiac wood, seaweed absolute, fig leaf.  Basenotes: driftwood, sea salt, sandalwood.  Sea Foam is the scent of freedom.  As a luxurious, concentrated extract (pure perfume), Sea Foam is rich in natural oils, essences, and absolutes that call to mind the various facets of the seaside: the salt, the sweetness, the fresh air, seaweed, the green smell of the sea grasses up on the dunes.  But first, the fragrance opens with a volley of refreshing and crisp citrus notes – bergamot, which smells both of lemon and green leaves all together in one gorgeous package, and the peppery, herbal citrus tones of bay leaf. As the sharp brightness of the citrus and herbs bank down, it reveals a beautiful seaweed note, moist with clean sea water and rich in minerals and salts. It smells like your shoulder tastes after a dip in the sea – salty, warm, and clean.

Sensual Oud:  
Art de ParfumWoody Floriental 50ml at £108.  Top Notes: clove, geranium leaf, date.  Heart Notes: saffron, rose, suede.  Basenotes: patchouli, oud, cypriol. Sensual Oud takes the stark, somewhat uncompromising scent of pure oud and filters it through a uniquely French sensibility, refining and softening its blunt impact for Western noses without losing any of its essential grandeur. In this darkly sensual fragrance, the resinous oud note – smoky and austere – is backlit by a lush, almost jammy red rose and a green, fresh geranium note. The velvety florals add softness and sweetness to the oud, and the oud lends the florals a dry, smoky facet resulting in depth and shade. Against this black velvet backdrop, clove and saffron offer spice, warmth, and the subtle suggestion of the fine suede lining of an expensive handbag. As the base develops further, this suede evolves into a smoky leather note.

Signature Wild: Art de ParfumOriental Leather 50ml at £108.  Top Notes: cinnamon, davana, cardamom.  Heart Notes: orange blossom, dried fruits and radiant woods.  Basenotes: amber, leather, sandalwood. Signature Wild is a dark, woody leather fragrance with a boozy, overripe fruit note that lends the composition a rich, heady feel.  The composition centres around davana, a rich essential oil distilled from the flowers and leaves of Artemisia pallens, or Dhavanam, which although is a bitter green herb produces an oil that smells simultaneously of apricots, dark rum, anise, and leather. Dhavanam lends Signature Wild its characteristically heady, sweet booziness, but the perfume never feels heavy or over done, balanced as it is by the nutty grassiness of Haitian vetiver, tender orange blossoms, and a warm spicing of cinnamon and cardamom.
