No more refined foods – One of the best ways to stay as beautiful as ever is to avoid eating refined or highly processed foods. Such types of foods can take away important nutrients that are needed by your body and that can make your skin look dull.  Aside from that, they can also get you constipated!

Such practices will only enhance your beauty, since raw foods are still filled with vitamins, enzymes, and other nutrients that can take care of your skin and hair. It is a known factor and has been proven that raw foods can make wrinkles and age spots less obvious too.

This would ensure that your skin is properly hydrated, and the fruit would also help in maintaining its radiance.  In addition, such a practice can also help you maintain your weight, or lose some.

assorted Honest bottlesPractice a morning skin care routine – Following a skin care routine each morning can help a lot in maintaining your beauty.  A typical routine that you can follow would involve removing all dirt from your skin with the use of a deep cream cleanser, and rinsing it with water; applying a mild moisturizer; and applying a small amount of face powder to control oil build up.

woman with pink lipstick on hole of pink paperUse cream as your skin cleanser – Cleaning your skin on a regular manner is essential in maintaining its beauty. However, it is best to make use of a cream cleanser to do this, since it won’t take away the natural oil from your skin, which protects it. Don’t use anything that can dry out your skin, since it can become prone to bacteria and cellular damage.

Honest cosmetic setUse rosewater as toner – Using rosewater as your toner provides a lots of key benefits.  Aside from maintaining the radiant looks of your skin, rosewater actually contains substances which can also maintain your skin’s moisture.  It is also a good solution that you can use if you have allergic skin or to treat sunburn.

Drink enough amounts of water – To maintain your beauty, you need to have a skin that has good moisture. To achieve that, you need to drink at least 8 glasses of water each day. Aside from flushing out harmful toxins from your body, it can also get rid of excess heat.  Drinking enough amounts of water can also help you maintain your weight, and prevent constipation.

Get your calcium – Drinking milk is one of the best things that you can do in order to maintain your beauty. Having a little milk each day, will provide your body with the essential nutrients to strengthen your hair and bones.  It can also make your skin look younger, enhance your health and the looks of your eyes.

Refrigerate toners and floral waters during summer time – Toners and floral water can help you freshen up, especially during the warmer months. Thus, it is best that you keep them inside the refrigerator during the summer months, so that you can use them cold. To feel refreshed, you can always spray your face with it too.

Never pick pimplesHaving lots of pimples on your face can affect your beauty. Thus, you don’t want it to multiply. Picking your pimples is actually one of the things that can make you have more of them.  This is because pricking it can spread the infection further, not forgetting it can also damage your skin tissue around the pimple.

Exfoliate your hands each week – Having hands that are soft and smooth are a must. To achieve this, you should exfoliate your hands once a week, with the use of a natural exfoliating liquid.  Use it in light circular movements to gently massage your skin.  It will be worth it!

Fix your yellow nails – Yellow nails is not something that you can be proud off.  Thus, if you have them, you can simply make use of a homemade whitening bath for it.  All you need to do is to mix enough lemon juice and rose petals into a bowl of clean water, and dip your hands into it.  After going through that process, apply a moisturizing lotion to enhance the results.

Replace candies and chocolates with fresh fruits – One of the many weaknesses especially for brides is to crave for sweets, which can affect health and of course, beauty.  Thus, instead of sweets, and other food items that are filled with sugar, you should try to eat a lot of  fresh fruits.  Foods that have high sugar content can enlarge your pores, aside from the fact that it can make you gain weight.

Have a facial once a month – Going through facial each month can provide you with lots of benefits. Some of which would include collagen and elastin recovery, improve the circulation of your blood vessels, even out your skin colour, improve hydration, and help with the skin tone.  It can also make your skin soft and radiant.

Keep your makeup simple and light each day – It is always best to show people your natural beauty. You can achieve this by keeping your makeup as simple and light each day. When you do that, you would also prevent skin damage, which is one of the effects of using heavy makeup on a regular basis.

Using lip balmKeep in mind that maintaining the condition of your lips can also enhance your beauty. To do that, it is always best to carry a lip balm wherever you may go. Lip balm can prevent your lips from drying out and it is one of the best ways to prevent or cure lip chapping. With the right kind of lip balm, it can also soften your lips. There are plenty of flavoured balms too so try them out.

Be gentle with your skin near your eyes – The skin under your eyes is one of the most sensitive parts of your body. Thus, it is best that you are gentle with it. You should not pull or stretch it, since it would definitely show, and affect your looks. With regular pulling and stretching in that part of your face, it can look wrinkled or saggy in no time.

close up photography of human right eye

Be conscious of your weight – One of the many biggest issues for brides is weight and it is a time when all brides are conscious of wanting to lose a few pounds to look their very best.  It’s important to note, whether you gain or lose weight you may have problems in properly fitting your clothes. Therefore, it is best to maintain your weight at an ideal level, so that you can feel healthy and you can fit perfectly in your dream dress.

Don’t visit the kitchen too often – If you want to prevent having bouts and bouts of acne infection, you should avoid going to the kitchen, especially when someone is cooking.  Its good to keep in mind that there is oil floating around your kitchen, when it is heated.  Therefore, if you visit the kitchen during times of cooking, then you would be accumulating oil on your skin, which is bad news.  Not exactly practical but something to keep in mind.

Minimize stressWhenever you are stressed out, it would actually show on your eyes, the expression of your face, as well as your skin. In fact, stress can also cause pimples. Therefore, you should minimise stress as much as possible – easier said than done given brides are renowned to be stressed – however take action by taking deep breaths whenever you encounter stressful situations.  Following other healthy practices in breathing and meditation can also help alleviate stress.

shallow focus photography of men's muddy face

Avoid oily foods – When you eat foods that are filled with bad oil, it would eventually get accumulated, which can lead to weight gain. Gaining weight can alter your figure, aside from the fact that it can put you at risk to a number of diseases. In addition, oily foods is also one of the top causes of pimples. The key factor here is to be eating the good fats that help skin and not the bad ones.

Keep your hands off your face – If you want to prevent pimples to affect your image, then you should keep your hands off your face.  You need to remember that there is always a tendency for your hands to touch certain things, which may contain dirt and bacteria. When you touch your face on a regular basis, then you may irritate it.  Thus, touch your face only when you need to, and only with recently washed hands

woman's face

Keep away from the sun –  Although we all love the sun, exposing yourself to the sun can irritate your skin, which can lead to having pimples. Aside from that, it can also cause dry skin. Therefore, it is best to stay in the shade in most parts of the day.  If you are out in the sun do make use of a quality sunscreen product.

woman wearing holding her head

Get help with severe acne – There are times when acne can attack without warning. If you do have severe acne, you should not hesitate in getting help for it.  Visit a dermatologist as soon as possible, so that you can finally put a stop to it, and live a life with healthy and acne free skin.

assorted-color soap packs

Try one product at a time – To cure acne or any other skin disorders, you may have a tendency to make use of different types of products all at once. Instead of doing that, you should try one product at a time, so as to give it a chance to work. Aside from that, it is best to focus on a reliable product, than applying different ones, since applying too many of them may irritate your skin even further.

turmeric scrub jar and face wash pump bottle

Wear the right clothes – You have to keep in mind that the way you dress can have a huge impact on the way you feel.  Therefore, make sure that you wear clothes that makes you feel good whatever the occasion.  When it really doesn’t matter wear comfortable clothing, so that you would be able to move freely, and be yourself and we know exactly how that feels!

woman wearing multicolored floral crop-top holding green palm leaves

Be mindful of what you apply on your hair – When you apply certain products on your hair, such as gel, hairspray, or mousse, you should do it sparingly. This is because, using it excessively can irritate your scalp.  If you have long hair and it constantly rubs against your face, then it can also be the root cause for having acne infection.  Something to really consider.

Bridal Skincare: The Pre-wedding Prep Your Skin Needs

Bridal Skincare

You have been waiting for your big day for as far as you can remember, and every woman’s dream is to look her very best with her skin reflecting the inner glow she is feeling. However, the biggest fear would be waking up a few days before with signs of a pimple or blotchy skin – but now these things can be prevented if you know how!

Skin specialist and product developer at Colorescience, Patricia Boland, has revealed the only pre-wedding prep your skin needs. She explains here on Bride Icon, when you should begin the prep and what you need to achieve that effortless glow that will look picture perfect.

When should I begin the prep?

A lot of brides want their skin to be luminous and have a natural but dewy complexion which allows them to wear less makeup on the day. In order to achieve that smooth surface you need to invest into a better skincare regime which preps the skin. The later you leave the prep, the more stressed you will become as you will have less time to react to any skin issues on top of the many other responsibilities you hold. Please don’t try anything brand new and drastic before the wedding day as you may get red and flaky skin, stick to what you know suits your skin best.

Start your prep 8 weeks before your big day, most of the work is simple can be done by yourself at home so you don’t to worry about spending a large budget on expensive treatments and products. By maintaining this 5-step process for 8 weeks you will see a big improvement in your skin health.”

Bridal Skincare

So, the 5-step process:

1. Weekly intense hydration mask

Your skin needs to look and feel revitalised as opposed to dehydrated. This is not be confused with dry skin, which is down to a lack of oil, dehydrated skin is caused by a lack of water in the skin. Low levels of moisture can give you a dull complexion, increase fine line and wrinkles and even cause sensitivity and irritation. This affects every type, even oily skin – this step ensures your t-zone is oil free and ready to be a clean base for your makeup. A weekly intense hydration mask will help to reduce fine lines and wrinkles that are exacerbated by dehydration and leave you with plump, youthful and healthy skin.

Bridal Skincare

2.  Salt scrubs

Brides tend to forget about their arms, legs and chest during their bridal skin prep. All eyes are on you during your big day, so you need to reduce any existing or potential dry patches. Add a bath to your weekly routine and throw in bath salts with sodium bicarbonate, this will break down the dry patches and make your skin supple and a sponge for moisture.

3. SPF always

Sun damage will undo all your hard work and you can be affected more easily than you think. Dull, lackluster skin and dark spots can all be a result of UV rays. Either apply sunscreen at the end of your skincare routine in the morning or incorporate makeup with a high SPF to protect your skin. If you are wishing for a slightly sun kissed and bronzed look for your big day then gradually build in a bronzed moisturiser about 3 days before your wedding. This will give time for your colour to adapt into a beautiful and natural subtle tan.

4. Exfoliate and moisturise your body

Use an exfoliation product, whether in a wash or lotion that has AHA or beta hydroxy acid (BHA) to break down dead cells on the top layer of the skin, doing this daily allows further penetration of the moisturiser you apply. Do not exfoliate with physical scrubs or loofahs as these often remove living cells as well which cause damage to the skin.

5. Achieving the dewy look

Use a natural face oil and work firmly in small circles upwards and outwards over your face. By using the knuckles of your index and middle fingers, work along the jawline and use the heels of your hands to press and hold under the cheekbones. Do this daily before you go to sleep to allow the ingredients to settle into your skin, this will give the skin an incredible quality and glow whilst defining the face contours.

LLG

Luxury Destination Wedding Spots for 2019

Gone are the days of huge weddings with hundreds of guests. In today’s experiential landscape, couples are seeking more intimate weddings in uncharted territories that create unique memories with their closest friends and families.

From swimming with sharks and stingrays in the crystal blue waters of Bora Bora right outside your over water bungalow; to canoeing to a private white-sand motu where you’re greeted with champagne and a French-Polynesian drum ceremony before your personalised dinner under the Tahitian sky!

LLG
Bora Bora by – Ishan

Or perhaps you prefer an exclusive tour of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi, one of the world’s largest mosques with 82 white domes, precious white marble floors, and chandeliers with over 40 million Swarovski crystals; followed by a safari tour in the world’s largest sand desert, where you are led on camel back to a glamorous Middle Eastern-style tented site where you can relax in a romantic spa with Moroccan hammocks and desert rose rituals.

LLG
ABU DHABI – Juliana

Recognising this desire for unparalleled experiences, LLG Events rooted itself in the world’s most luxurious destinations to design, manage and execute once-in-a-lifetime events for clients from all over the world.

“It’s not about getting there, it’s about enjoying the process. We make the event experience less typical and entirely personal by incorporating your interests and mindset beyond geography and demographic. It’s authentic, ethical, eccentric…it’s you. Attain the new standard of luxury, where your event is complete with exclusive experiences that tie emotional fulfilment with unforgettable moments that last a lifetime,” said Teal Nicholson, creative director of LLG Events.

LLG
ABU DHABI – Cal Engel

With this expertise, LLG Events is unveiling the top 2019 wedding destinations of grandeur across the globe.  Bride Icon received the details on LLG Events’ partnerships with 5-star venues, resorts, and tourism boards in each of these destinations.

1. Dubai—The United Arab Emirates plans to make Dubai the top tourist destination in the world by 2025. “Last year, I had a sense that the invitation-only Destination Wedding Planners Congress would select Dubai as the location for their 2019 conference, and I was right! My guess earned us the first invitation to Atlantis, The Palm for this year’s business-to-business platform that brings together over 70 countries represented by their luxury event industry vendors who cater to celebrity and royalty,” said Lauren Grech, CEO and co-founder of LLG Events.

LLG
DUBAI – Lucy M

The influx of wedding vendors for this elite conference alone will form partnerships with venues and vendors of the region. Known for splendorous shopping, ultra-modern architecture, and a lively nightlife scene, Dubai is on the rise for attracting engaged couples.

LLG
DUBAI – David Rodrigo

Couples can choose to become part of the preferred clique in Dubai’s shopping district and have the groom don a pair of tailored shoes from their in-house cobbler offering a formal shoe customisation service…or they can choose to have their wedding reception on a yacht sailing through the Arabian Gulf with a full crew catering to them as they watch the sun set over the Dubai skyline.

2. New York City— is where people go to achieve their dreams; so when planning a dream wedding, it will always be at the top of the list for prosperous destinations.

LLG
New York City – Fezbot2000

“We have clients coming to New York City from all over the world choosing it to be the destination of their nuptials because it’s the melting pot of cultures where everyone is comfortable coming together, and that’s the most important part of a wedding day,” said Teal Nicholson.

“The best event designs are an expression of who you are and who you’re meant to be. Marrying in New York City allows couples to share their backgrounds, their values, their interests, and their love with components that transcend across generations.”

Additionally, the options for venues are endless, so couples can choose one, or even multiple, that are a true reflection of what they want their wedding day to be…whether that’s a hotel with outstanding views of Central Park, cocktails served exclusively in Baccarat crystal, or royal residences with Louis XIV-style.

LLG

3. India“Celebrities always set trends, so with the recent weddings of Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas, Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh, Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja, we know that others will start to flock to India for their own interpretations of a celebrity-inspired wedding,” says Lauren Grech.

LLG
India – Pablo Heimplatz

Premier publications are highlighting these extravagant, lavish weddings that extend over multiple days. This publicity provides all the necessary information on how to plan a destination wedding across the country, whether couples want to marry on a 32-acre oasis with manicured lawns and landscaped gardens; or if they want a property that boasts views of the iconic Taj Mahal, one of the Seven Wonders of the World.

LLG
India – Raghu Nayyar

4. Bora Bora—Named the top-trending destination for millennial travel in 2019, LLG Events is enhancing the mindset of Bora Bora from a honeymoon destination to a wedding spot that serves beyond elopements to larger groups of friends and family, with bucket-list activities taking over the itinerary.

LLG
BORA BORA – Shifaaz-Shamoon

“We recognise that couples are seeking a more exclusive wedding day experience,” says Lauren Grech, CEO and founder of LLG Events. “So we sought out a destination that’s exotic, that was not affected by Zika virus, and that could be affordable for those that were already willing to spend on a large at-home wedding. This led us to our partnership with the Four Seasons Resort Bora Bora.”

LLG
BORA BORA – Ishan

With a private suite experience that makes travelling to the Four Seasons Resort Bora Bora a breeze, and an endless choice of tours and pursuits upon arrival, couples are sure to start tying the knot in this picturesque location.

5. Abu Dhabi is more accessible than ever with an extensive list of new hotels opening. With flights from most major cities, couples can be put at ease when considering the travel experience for their guests with small children or elderly family members. It also often ranks as one of the safest cities in the world.

LLG
ABU DHABI – Martin Adams

With all of the large investments being made in the Middle East, the Abu Dhabi Convention and Exhibition Bureau sponsored LLG Events to evaluate 21 of their newest luxury resorts and their accompanying experiences. This push to align with white-glove service proves the significance of the region’s goals of becoming a luxury wedding destination.

LLG
ABU DHABI – Zosia Korcz

They are promoting their varied cuisine, culture and time-honoured traditions, with one hotel having 14 restaurants within it, satisfying any indulgence couples may have on a gold platter; and the Women’s Handicraft Centre allowing couples to source local embroidery, weaving and other creative arts for wedding decor or favors.

House of iKons

House of iKons 15-16 September 2018 @ Millennium Gloucester, London

House of iKons

House of iKons is back again DURING London Fashion Week this September bringing fashion and creativity from around the world under one roof.  House of iKons success is based on the unique concept, celebrating the new generation of global fashion talent.

House of iKons

Founded by Savita Kaye, her ambition is for House of iKons to be a global brand, known for launching emerging designers. Working with global media partners has enabled House of iKons shows to be aired worldwide to millions of viewers.

In addition to House of iKons DURING London Fashion Week, shows have taken place in Los Angeles, Bangkok, Beijing, Cannes, Dubai and Abu Dhabi and partnered with official Budapest Fashion Week and International Amsterdam Fashion Week.

House of iKons

House of iKons is supporting brands from around the world giving them global exposure and platforming them to the next level. Some of our designers have been stocked in boutiques and department stores around the world and dressing some of the biggest celebrities on the red carpet, music videos and concerts; such as Beyoncé, JLo, Katy Perry, Lady Ga Ga, Paris Hilton, Britney Spears, Tyra Banks to name but a few.

This season the show will be held over two days with one day dedicated to children’s fashion and a solo segment which will be creating something HISTORIC which has never been done or seen globally in fashion history!!

The solo segment on Saturday 15th September by ‘Honee” will have both human and robotic models, bringing fashion and advanced technology together. Honee a creative visionary stated “I am thrilled to have the sponsorship of the Ohmni Lab, a tele-presence robotic company.  My show with the House of iKons this September is named “ÁI”, in reference to Artificial Intelligence and also the play on the Vietnamese word ÁI for love and the Chinese phonetic AI for love as well. We’re in the world of AI and loving it. I use fashion as the language to express the skins we are in.  In my upcoming show, it’s not about the future of robots, of a world unknown, but of the presence, the NOW and Ohmni Lab is ushering the world of NOW with their tele-presence robots. I’m honoured and super excited to be a part of the Ohmni lab journey.”

House of iKons

For the first time a dedicated show to Children’s Fashion will be taking place with children designers and models flying in from around the world. House of iKons hope this puts London on the map for Children’s Fashion Show and its designers. As the company always states ‘Fashion is for anyone, any age, anywhere around the world’.

Be prepared to witness first hand these amazing #iKons.  House of iKons will be supporting the charity The Sharan Project this season, protection of women and young children in vulnerable and abusive situations. Percentage of the ticket sales will be going to this charity.

Psychedelic Realism

A Wedding Portrait With A Hint Of Hypnotic Realism

Throughout the centuries the world of art has transpired into many avenues of magnitude, patterns, silhouettes, colour and creativity – defining and expressing the intricate points of life and its’ entities.  Artists around the world have devised extravagant pieces that have set the subconscious alight with elaborated visions and mystic interpretations.  One such artist who has taken art into a whole new dimension is Mo Zaic Manchester – taking on a new vision – he has developed his own analysis and trademark with a theme based on psychedelic realism.

Mo’s inquisitiveness in creating art with a twist of psychedelic realism began many years ago, but a brutal twist of fate led him to becoming a victim of a serious car accident before he could thrive.  The artwork he believed in so passionately took a standstill while he faced the battles of recovery.  However, his intense knowledge and expertise in self development trained in Master Hypnosis, NLP and Energy Healing were the only reasons why Mo defied the doctors and made a full recovery.   The techniques that were applied are appreciated and recognised from the vast amount of customer feedback showcased on his website www.mozaicmanchesterbeats.com not forgetting his additional talents of being a vocalist and a hip hop music producer.

Psychedelic Realism

Throughout this journey, Mo maintains his stance on becoming the founder of ‘Hypnotic Psychedelia’ which he first discovered back in 1997 stemming as a hobby then into a career.  His interpretation of this revolutionary type of art endorses the activity of colour and psychedelic patterns, fused with realistic forms of people and nature – taking the observer to look towards an inner world – displaying an assortment of shining vibrancy formatted into a splendid cosmic repertoire.

Psychedelic Realism

A self inspired artist himself, Mo is now looking into broadening his horizons in the world of abstract/realism art by creating a set of unique styles within his portraits.  His collections have been exhibited in galleries with a selection of images featuring iconic artists on the international stages of music, sports and celebrities. His influences aspire from legends such as Picasso, Monet, Basquiat, Dali and Indian artists M.F Hussain, and Tayeb Mehta.

Bride Icon have put together a remarkable selection of artwork from Mo Zaic Manchester.  We believe it would be especially perfect for any bride or couples looking to have a exclusive portrait that includes his own signature feature of ‘hypnotic psychedelia’.   Using high quality paints, watercolours, oils and acrylics this would be an exceptional and unique addition to your special day.
