Bride & Groom Get Muddy In Aid Of The Helping Harry Trust

Helping Harry Trust

Families would be forgiven for thinking they had more than just mud in their eyes when they saw a bride and groom taking part in Muddy Furlong in Daventry on Saturday 13th July.

Anna Wood and her husband Aaron took part in the 3km long course in aid of local four-year-old Harry Charlesworth, who has spastic quadriplegic cerebral palsy and has very complex needs.  Anna and Aaron were two of 400 people who flocked to Long Furlong Farm to complete the muddy obstacle course and part of the 50-strong wave of people taking part to help support Harry and his family by raising money for his ongoing care, which costs around £35,000 a year. The event raised £1052.50 in total for the charity.

Helping Harry Trust

Anna, who owns Anna Wood Bridal in Long Buckby, said: “I met Harry’s grandmother at a business networking event and I heard Harry’s story. Immediately I wanted to get involved and do something to help. I heard about the event but, rather than just taking part, I decided to do it in a wedding dress and cause a bit of a stir!  If I could get that bit more attention for doing the course in a white wedding dress, it would raise more awareness of Harry and The Helping Harry Trust. Thankfully Aaron was fully behind the idea and joined me as my groom.”

Helping Harry Trust

As well as taking part in the event as a bride, Anna also donated a prize of £1000 towards a wedding gown to the charity, which will be raffled off on 5th November, with tickets available from today.  Hayley Charlesworth, Harry’s mother and founder of The Helping Harry Trust, said:

We are so grateful to Anna for supporting Harry this weekend at Muddy Furlong and loved seeing her complete it in a wedding dress! To have backing like this from Anna Wood Bridal and Muddy Furlong means so much to us.
“Local businesses supporting what we are doing helps us provide Harry with life enhancing and prolonging physiotherapy, home adaptations, equipment and care. Support like this gives us strength when times are hard. Thank you so much Anna and the rest of Harry’s team for Saturday and for your continued support.”

Helping Harry Trust

Carmel Haigh of Long Furlong Farm added: “We met Anna from Anna Wood Bridal earlier this year, when launching our wedding venue at Long Furlong Farm. We welcomed the opportunity to work alongside Anna but had no idea that this would be through our Muddy Furlong event! To have Anna and Aaron taking on all the obstacles in their wedding attire was a great way to raise awareness and funds for The Helping Harry Trust and we wish them both every success with the raffle.”

Hayley Paige

Hayley Paige In London’s Luxury Bridal Show @ Les Trois Soeurs Bridal

hayley paige

Canary Wharf, London became the epitome of bridal couture when Les Trois Soeurs Bridal hosted their luxury bridal catwalk show in association with Brides Magazine.  Among the elite designers, Miss Hayley Paige graced the event – all the way from New York  – with a sensational viewing of the 2018 collection.

Hayley Paige

Hayley who is here on her first trip to London – since the sweet age of 16, set the catwalk on fire with some surprises in between too.  The bridal collection was married in with one of a kind ‘red carpet’ and speciality pieces.  Hayley thought  it would be fun to mix it in with the bridal range to give it that extra edge and a touch of colour!   However, what caught our eye was the dazzling starry themes and the continuation of the celestial journey – there’s a lot of elements of star dusting and even hidden galaxies within the dress!

Hayley Paige

Hayley’s visit to London is part of a journey to see how the London bride differs from the brides in the States.  Hayley said she feels there is something particularly exciting about the London bride and is hoping to see what exactly she can learn and experience in terms of price point and balance and how it all could be aligned with what the Hayley Paige aura is about.

Hayley Page

We asked Hayley which dress would be her signature statement dress and her reply was  “it had to be the Ball Gown, mostly because that’s where the Miss Hayley Paige domain and iconic novelty has come through. From a philosophical stand point, she’s the girl that wants something that’s really going to set her apart!”  Of course, we couldn’t let Hayley go without asking who would be her ideal Bride Icon.   We were so touched to hear that it was her mum.  Hayley said she would have loved to dress her mum during the 70s retro era where she could push the boundaries but still be in the moment.  Hayley described how her mum was a risk taker in fashion but also very much part of her own style and inspirations growing up.

Hayley PaigeBride Icon would like to say a very special thank you to the lovely Hayley Paige for an enchanting vision of this fabulous collection.  Hayley asked us to write down our favourite dress, it was a little impossible with so many elegant designs – but we absolutely love the Lumi Gown twinkling with stars and glitter – it’s out of this world !!

2017’s Hottest Bridal Trends from Minster Designs

Straight off the catwalk, Founder of award-winning bridal boutique Minster Designs, Oxana Ruckhaber, gives the lowdown on the hottest trends for brides in 2017.

If 2017 is the year you are planning your wedding, then top of the to-do list should be finding the perfect dress. The latest fashions and trends for 2017 are now emerging and whether brides-to-be are going for boho-chic, romantic, or full-on glamorous, Oxana Ruckhaber of the award-winning bridal boutique Minster Designs, has the top trends to keep in mind when planning a 2017 wedding look.

Oxana has said “Bridal separates are super-in for 2017 weddings. This fashion gives brides the chance to customise their wedding dress by choosing the top and skirt separately so that they can create a dress that is unique to them. It makes it even more special and personal. But looking beautiful is only part of finding the right dress. It’s so important that the Bride feels really comfortable in what she’s wearing too so that she can relax and enjoy the day.

Bridal separates first hit the catwalk in 2014 and the trend has grown and grown. Contemporary brides are attracted by the versatility and choice offered by mixing and matching tops and skirts. Brides can blend fabrics and textures – silk, satin, chiffon – in a way that reflects their personality and individual style. Tops can range from intricate, bead-embellished lace corsets with alluring sweetheart necklines to delicate translucent tops with demure high necks. They can be teamed with fairy-tale swathes of delicate tulle or body-hugging Hollywood-style satin glamour. What’s more, brides can continue to ring the changes throughout their special day: swapping a long, romantic skirt for a fun and flirty fifties-inspired retro look for the evening’s celebrations.

Oxana continues to say “A newer trend is colour. Of course, white, ivory and cream remain favourites but there is definitely a move towards colour – lovely, subtle, pastel and blush shades are increasingly popular. And boldercolours like red, charcoal and even black are becoming more usual – this is particular so with the separates. It also means that these beautiful items can have a life beyond that one special day – and can be worn separately or as an ensemble on other occasions.
